Children’s Media & Animation
Big feelings. Bold imaginations. Stories that help little audiences see themselves and their world differently.
I’m Rosario Martinez, a Mexican-American, bilingual children’s writer and published picture book author creating character driven stories for young audiences. My work explores social emotional learning, friendship, identity, imagination, and the small but mighty moments that help children grow.
With a background in children’s publishing, child development, and working with young children, I bring a child centered perspective to storytelling. I’m especially drawn to preschool animation, where playful characters, imaginative worlds, humor and heartfelt storytelling can help young viewers make sense of big feelings.
I write stories that entertain first, connect deeply, and leave room for curiosity, laughter, and discovery. Whether I’m developing a new character, building an imaginative world, or exploring the emotional heart of an episode, I believe the best stories respect children’s intelligence while celebrating the wonder of being a kid.
I’m excited to collaborate with animation studios, children’s media companies, production teams, fellow writers, and creative partners who believe in making thoughtful, memorable stories for young audiences.
Let’s make something meaningful for young viewers.

What I Bring to Children’s Media
Character driven storytelling
I love creating memorable characters whose personalities, relationships, and choices drive the story. I’m interested in the humor, conflict, and emotional discoveries that make young audiences care about what happens next.
Social emotional storytelling
My work explores big feelings, communication, problem-solving, confidence, teamwork, and friendship. I approach social emotional learning through character, action, and story rather than lessons that interrupt the fun.
Preschool audiences
I’m particularly interested in stories for children ages 3-6 with opportunities for playful exploration, relatable conflicts, visual comedy, imaginative problem solving, and meaningful emotional growth.
Bilingual and Culturally Responsive Perspectives
As a bilingual English and Spanish speaking Mexican-American writer, I care about stories that reflect the richness of children’s families, languages, and communities. I want more young viewers to recognize themselves on screen and discover worlds beyond their own.
A Child Centered Creative Perspective
My experience in children’s publishing, child development, and working with children informs how I approach age appropriate storytelling, communication, and emotional experiences.
Published Children’s Books
I am the author of four books in Capstone’s My Spectacular Self social emotional learning picture book series. Each book explores a different skill through character led storytelling.
Tiger’s Tough Time - Anger, big feelings, and calming strategies.
A Fantastic Plan - Leadership, teamwork, and problem solving.
Gia Speaks Her Mind - Communication, self-expression, and finding your voice.
Olive Makes a Choice - Decision making, confidence, and making choices.
These books reflect my interest in stories that give children room to experience emotions, navigate relationships and discover what they’re capable of doing. However, I am eager to explore any and all exciting projects outside of this age range and topics.
